Welcome to our Bernards Township Citizens for Responsible Development non-profit organization.
We are Bernards Township residents who are committed to responsible growth and the preservation of the rural and bucolic nature of our community. We are philosophically aligned with the spirit of the Township Master Plan, particularly the Land Use and Management Objectives, which are as follows:
- Land use policies should strive to maintain the character of the community, protect the integrity of existing neighborhoods and prevent intrusion of incompatible new development.
- The densities and intensities of permitted development should respect the environmental capabilities and limitations of these lands.
- Groundwater aquifers and surface water quality and quantity should be protected, through proper management of wetlands and their transition areas.
- Development densities and intensities should be planned at levels that do not exceed the capacity of the natural environment and current infrastructure, and growth-inducing infrastructure should not be extended into the rural countryside.
We are strongly opposed to all forms of intolerance, bigotry, and prejudice and embrace the diversity of our Township's population. Our aim is simply to preserve the quiet character of our residential neighborhoods and prevent the intrusion of intensive non-residential uses.
News Flash: The next public hearing on the ISBR's proposal will be on November 3, 2015 at 7:30 PM. Public commentary is now complete!
